Our licensing

HomeValue NZ is operated by @realty Ltd, a licensed real estate agency under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008 (REAA 2008). All real estate work conducted through this platform is carried out by or under the supervision of licensed real estate salespersons or agents.

You can verify the licensing status of any real estate professional on the REA website: rea.govt.nz/find-a-licensee

What this service is and isn't

This service does NOT provide:
  • A registered valuation under the Valuers Act 1948
  • A written appraisal under Rule 10 of the REA Code of Conduct 2012
  • Legal or financial advice
  • A guarantee of sale price or market value
This service DOES provide:
  • A computer-generated indicative estimate based on publicly available data
  • A starting point for a conversation with a licensed real estate professional
  • An introduction to a licensed salesperson who can provide a formal written appraisal

REA Code of Conduct compliance

The REA Code of Conduct 2012 sets out the obligations of licensed real estate professionals. Relevant rules we comply with include:

Rule 6.4 — Misleading representations
We clearly disclose that property estimates are computer-generated and indicative only. We do not represent these estimates as accurate valuations or written appraisals.
Rule 9.7 — Unsolicited contact
We only contact property owners who have voluntarily submitted their details through our platform and explicitly consented to be contacted by a licensed real estate professional.
Rule 10 — Appraisals
We clearly communicate that the estimate provided is NOT a written appraisal under Rule 10. Any formal appraisal must be provided separately by a licensed agent in a written document that complies with the Code.
Rule 5 — Client care
We provide property owners with clear information about what they will receive, who will contact them, and how to opt out.

Salesperson licence requirement

Every real estate professional using the HomeValue NZ platform to generate leads and contact property owners must hold a current New Zealand real estate salesperson, branch manager, or agent licence issued by the Real Estate Authority (REA).

When setting up a HomeValue NZ profile, agents are required to enter their REA licence number. Operating as a real estate salesperson without a current licence is illegal under the REAA 2008 and may result in prosecution.

Licence numbers can be verified at any time at rea.govt.nz

Privacy Act 2020

The collection and use of personal information through this platform is governed by our Privacy Policy. We collect only the information necessary to provide the Service and connect property owners with licensed professionals. We do not share or sell personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
